Erik Haggstrom
Founder, Executive Director
Erik founded EK Global Consulting because of his strong belief that organisations (both for profit and not-for-profit) that own the risk management processes are more likely to succeed in reaching their strategic goals. These beliefs have been driven home during COO and CRO roles at private wealth managers and asset managers as well as in the not for profit sector during his role on the Surf Lifesaving New South Wales Risk Committee.
Erik has more than 20 years experience in senior executive roles in consulting firms, private wealth managers, asset management and institutional banks, across Australia, Europe and the U.S. Erik has a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Commerce from the Australian National University. He has been a member of the Chartered Accountants (Australia and New Zealand) since 1998. He has a Diploma in Financial Planning.
Erik practices managing his own personal risk on a regular basis while skiing, mountain biking and surfing.
DEREK WATERMAN
SENIOR CONSULTANT
Derek joined EK Global Consulting because of his experience in the implementation of financial products for private wealth managers and asset managers and his belief that where risk management control and process have been a focus there has been greater success for those products.
Derek has more than 20 years experience in senior roles in consulting firms, asset managers and private wealth managers in the UK and Australia. Derek is a not for profit founder and board member. Derek has a Bachelor of Arts from Southampton Solent University in the UK, has completed the UK’s Investment Management Certificate and is RG146 compliant.
Derek practices managing his own personal risk when building and launching amateur rockets. Derek is a licensed pyrotechnician and holds a Level 2 Certification in High Powered Rocketry.
